Registered Energy ProfessionalThe City of Chicago Energy Conservation Code requires that applicants for Energy Code-applicable building permits are required to include a statement of compliance from an architect or engineer who has attended one or more city Energy Code workshops and who is listed as a Registered Energy Professional for Residential Buildings, Commercial Buildings or both.

We have reserved this section of Chicago Window Expert for postings by Registered Energy Professionals. These architects and engineers have been on the forefront of the implementation of the Chicago Energy Conservation Code, and have been witness to any and all efforts by building owners to enhance building energy performance.

Since this is a new section, we will “seed” the postings with a number of questions that we are asking of our city’s REP’s. Site visitors, feel free to ask questions, too. REPs, simply answer in the comments section below. After moderation, they will be posted within 24 hours. REPS, feel free to include website addresses, company names and phone numbers if you like. We want to facilitate your exposure to potential clients!

A few questions to get started. Answer any or all.

#1. Do your projects seem to be driven by energy concerns, or are they needed constructions that have an energy component?

#2. What is your most interesting energy-related project?

#3. When it comes to improving a building’s energy performance, what retrofit gives the best bang for the buck?

One Response to “Registered Energy Professional”

    1. 1. My projects are definitely driven by energy concerns because that is who I am marketed towards and that is what I believe in and try to convince my clients of.

      2. My most interesting energy-related projects are http://www.honoregreen.com and http://www.claremontgreen.com as well as two single family homes side-by side at 1939-41 N. Whipple; all in Chicago. All are Energy Star Certified, Chicago Green Homes 3-Star projects and some feature on site energy generation.

      3. The retrofit that gives the most bang for the buck in my mind is highly insulated walls, windows, and doors with sealed penetrations. The next would be high-efficiency mechanical systems, appliances, and water systems.

Please contact us for your next green, high-performance, healthy, and eco-friendly construction project.
